DEFINITION
What is a spatial CMMS?
A spatial CMMS is a computerized maintenance management system in which photos, video and notes are pinned to marks on a 3D capture of the real machine — not just logged against an asset ID.
How is this different from a traditional CMMS?
A conventional CMMS records that a task was done on Asset 4471. A spatial one records where on the machine the evidence came from, and shows the next technician that exact spot.
Two other things this term could mean
GIS-linked municipal CMMS
Also used in municipal and utility asset management to mean a CMMS linked to a GIS map of pipes, poles and roads. That is not this. This is for the inside of a factory — individual production machines, down to a single bolt, sensor or guard door.
CMM (coordinate measuring machine)
An unrelated manufacturing quality-inspection tool that measures part dimensions. A different acronym collision, a different category entirely.
Who uses a spatial CMMS?
Maintenance technician
Opens the machine instead of a manual, taps the spot, follows the steps.
Maintenance manager / planner
Sees a calendar, work orders and per-asset history anchored to real equipment, not abstract asset IDs.
Quality / validation lead
Gets records and attestations for work done at a specific place on the machine, with a tamper-evident audit log.
Operations / TPM lead
Tags abnormalities on the exact spot where they were found, not a text description of one.
Frequently asked
Does this replace my CMMS?
It depends on what your current system does. MYREX is a maintenance-execution system in its own right; where an existing system is staying, integration availability varies today — ask us directly rather than assuming.
What does “anchored” mean, mechanically?
Photos, video and notes are pinned to a specific point, called a mark, on a high-definition 3D capture of the machine, rather than filed under a general asset record. See how it works for the mechanics.

Bring a machine you already know is a mess to explain, and we will show you what it looks like inside MYREX.
